Gerry has designed UCLA's compensation and strategic human resource management courses, teaches HRM strategy, compensation and benefits, motivation, and performance management/appraisal at the University of California, Los Angeles and CSU-Northridge, and serves as a member of UCLA's Human Resources Advisory Council.

Professional memberships include the Society for Human Resource Management, the American Compensation Association, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the Association for the Management of Organizational Design, and the American Psychological Association. He is a founding director and current president of the Los Angeles Round Table for the Analysis and Design of Organization.
