What To Report To A Supervisor or
Violence Prevention Authority

Reporting the following is NOT an attempt at creating a “tattle-tale” or “big-brother” atmosphere. It is to save your life! So, report…

  • Anyone who talks about weapons or explosives, or who brings a weapon into the workplace – including knives or knife-like weapons, as well as guns.

  • Any threat of harm, or continued verbal abuse. Do not respond with a counter-threat – it may result in real violence.

  • Anyone showing continued severe depression or withdrawl – there may be a problem at home and counseling may help, or it could be a pre-violence condition.

  • Security equipment malfunctions, such as alarms, metal detectors and control access systems at entry points.

  • Strangers in the workplace, or anyone who does not have proper identification.

  • Domestic problems in co-workers lives, which might cause their spouses, romantic partners or friends to enter the workplace.

This is NOT an attempt at being nosey, or meddling in other peoples’ lives. It is to avoid a shooting or knifing, with possibly several people hurt or killed.

REPORTING THESE ISSUES MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE AND THE LIVES OF YOUR CO-WORKERS!
